Crypto exchange Kraken has appointed former UK Gemini head Blair Halliday as its new UK managing director (MD).
Halliday will oversee Kraken’s commercial, regulatory and political relations in the UK, hoping to capitalize on the government’s desire to see the country become a global crypto hub.
With the appointment, former head of UK and Europe Curtis Ting becomes Kraken’s global senior managing director, overseeing operations in various jurisdictions. This means that Kraken now has an MD focused solely on the UK market.
Kraken is regulated in the UK through its subsidiaries Crypto Facilities and Payward, both of which are registered with the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA).
Halliday spent almost three years with Gemini, initially as chief compliance officer for Europe before becoming UK Managing Director in July 2020.
